MT BROMO - OFFERING TO THE GODS

When you set foot on what feels like another planet just hours away from rice fields and paradise beaches.

As part of a campaign for Indonesian tourism, I had the privilege of producing this video at Mount Bromo, an active volcano… and so much more.

Mount Bromo is not only a natural wonder, but also a sacred place of worship for local communities: a Hindu pilgrimage site and part of the Tengger mountains. Located in East Java, Indonesia, at 2329m it is not the highest peak of the massif, but the most active and famous.

Every year, a traditional ceremony is held to offer gratitude to the gods.

My intention was to capture the unique atmosphere surrounding this sacred volcano through the lens of my camera.

The dance of the jeeps across the black sand, the melody of horses’ hooves, the low rumble of the crater, and the quiet spirituality suspended in the morning mist.. I sought to weave these elements together into a visual experience that speaks beyond words.

My small offering to the gods is nothing compared to the gratitude I feel for having lived this moment.
